Bug Fixes
The list below illustrates the bugs that were present in the previous version of
Longbow that have been fixed in this release.
Functionality Bugs
- When a newer version of Longbow 2008 was installed, the preferences set by the user
in the previous version would not be carried forward. This issue has now been fixed
and all preferences from the previous version will be brought forward to the latest
version.
- When you try to print recordsheets on the main screen, users will have been presented
with an error. This issue did not effect the 'Print in Grid' option. The issue has
now been fixed with the introduction of the new reporting solution.
- There was an error in the Rounds.xml document that related to the Stafford round.
This resulted in users being unable to enter valid scores for this round. This has
now been rectified.
- The Recordsheet Search facility contained an error where the discipline was not
used as a filter unless a bowstyle was also selected. This issue has now been corrected
and the search facility works as intended.
- When the user selects the automatic backup facility, the application would error
on closing. This has now been fixed and the backup facility works as intended.
- One user reported a very high RAM usage (300-500MB) when viewing MyRecords on the
main screen. This issue has now fixed and memory usage across the application has
been improved. As a result of this fix, some users may find that when viewing
MyRecords on the main screen the archer column no longer displays a caption.
To correct this, open the Choose Details screen, untick the item with no caption
and tick the column marked 'Archer'.
- Deleting multiple recordsheets at the same time within the main screen would result
in some records being deleted and some not. This issue has been rectified.
The routine is also now performed on a separate thread which makes the user experience
better on single core CPUs and gives greater performance on Dual and Quad Core machines.
- While testing the new data import facility with a large dataset of information,
a bug was found with the way that club records were being calculated. When
records were being added out of chronological order, the flag to indicate if a record
is current was not being updated correctly and as a result, the club dialog was
showing past records as well as current records. This issue has now been fixed
and all club records are calculated correctly and any database errors will be rectified
when the new version of Longbow is installed. As a result of this change,
performance has also been increased when adding and deleting large amounts of recordsheets.
- A bug was found that related to the Handicap and Classification Reviews. The bug
only effects Indoor Target reviews and would result in the reviews not be carried
out correctly. This issue has now been recitified and all reviews are correctly
calculated and re-calculated where necessary.
- Within the MyClubs Dialog, the Club Records list would show more than just the current
club record. This was a result of a flag not being set correctly on individual club
records. This issue has now been corrected and all necessary database corrections
will be carried out upon installation of this version of Longbow 2008.
Vista Fixes
- Longbow is no longer required to run as Administrator and the CREATE DATABASE
permission denied in database 'master' should no longer present itself on new
or upgraded installations. Although Service Pack 2 for SQL Server 2005 is now no
longer required, we still advise all our customers to ensure that the latest service
pack is applied to this product.
- Longbow now fully supports the Vista Operating system as all the remaining issues
have been rectified.
Cosmetic Bugs
Additional Functionality

ie. who broke it, when it was broken and with what scores.
- New Application Logging facility in place enabling you to send your errors directly
to MDESystems. This will enable us to be proactive in solving application
bugs and improve usability of the product.
- New Archer Performance Report.
Altered Functionality

Version 1.0.5
Release Date: 11/09/2008
Bug Fixes
The list below illustrates the bugs that were present in the previous version of
Longbow that have been fixed in this release.
Functionality Bugs
- A bug was introduced in version 1.0.4 that would prevent the correct agegroup being
selected on the classification tab on the recordsheet recordcard. This bug has now
been fixed.
Cosmetic Bugs
- If a user selected to create a new recordsheet and then attempted to delete a recordsheet
that had not been saved, the user would be prompted with the delete confirmation.
If the user selected yes to delete, the user would then again be asked if they wanted
to save the changes. If the user clicked yes then an error would be presented even
though the deletion had taken place. This bug has now been fixed and the second
message will not be displayed to the user.
Additional Functionality
- Longbow will now save the last screen location of each of the three main dialogs,
those being MyArchers MyClubs and MyRecords. This facility can be useful when transfering
data from say an excel spreadsheet into longbow. The spreadsheet can be positioned
on the left hand side of the screen and the recordsheet dialog can be positioned
on the right. Each time you create a new recordsheet, the dialog will appear in
the same location on the screen as the previously opened dialog.
