Longbow 2008 is built around one main screen that allows you to view your Archers,
Clubs and RecordSheets. From this screen you also access all the other facilities
within longbow.
The Main Screen is very similar to Windows Explorer in its behavior. You have
a list of the items, be that archers, clubs or recordsheets. You can then
choose to view those items as icons, details, thumbnails etc. As with explorer,
you can also choose the details you want to see for each item through the ChooseDetails
Dialog (see below).
Each item will have a different set of properties that you can choose from.
Longbow will automatically stores your preferences, as and when you change them
so you can tailor the application to your needs. If you want to view the archers
by their photos, you can, or if you want to view them as a contact list, again you
can do so. Each view preference is seperated by the type of item you are looking
at, be that MyRecords, MyArchers or MyClubs.
This means that the system can be configured to how YOU want to use it.
To view an item from the list, you simply double click on the item in question.
That item will then be shown in its respective dialog.
The dialog shown below is the MyArchers Dialog. As you can see, the layout
is very similar to the Contact Dialog you get in MS Outlook. The screen shots
below should give you a general idea as to the type of information you can store
against each archer.
Lets move onto the MyClubs Dialog. The images below show you the General Details,
Membership Facility, Management Facility and Club Records Facility each club has.
The General Details just store things like you club emblem, address details etc.
The Membership Facility allows you to add your archers to your club. Once
an archer is a member of your club, they will be available for club management positions.
They will also start to automatically contribute to your club records, see Club
Records image and the MyRecords Dialog for more information.
One thing you will notice on this screen is that some of the items in the lists
have icons associated with them. This is an indication that you can view that
items details by either right clicking and selecting view details, or, simply double
click the item in question. There is no need to go back to the main screen
to view say a members details, just click on that member in your list of members
and you will be shown the MyArchers Dialog with that persons details.
The same applies to Club Records, if there is an icon next to a specific club record,
it means that you have that recordsheet on file and you can view it by double clicking
that item.
Moving onto the MyRecords Dialog.
This is probably the screen you are going to use the most as you use it to record
the recordsheets.
Again, because Longbow is so flexible and to reduce the amount of input required
by yourself, we have created the facility to set up some defaults for this screen.
You can set things like a default Venue, Default Bowstyles for each Discipline,
if you want to record only the total score rather than the scores for each distance
you can do so.
Dont like using drop down boxes? Well we have set the drop down lists to accept
keyboard access with 'suggest and append' turned on. This means, for example,
if you want to select a New National from the list of rounds, you would type 'N'
into the drop down box and then you would be presented with a list of only the rounds
that start with that letter, again this reduces the amount of input required by
you.
When entering the scores in the boxes, Longbow checks to make sure that you are
only entering a valid score (applies to Hits, Golds and X's).
If the archer that shot the round is a member of a club, that clubs best scores
(club records) are automatically checked when you save the recordsheet to see if
it breaks a club record.
Handicap adjustments are automatically made and once the handicap tables are included
within the software, no manual input will be required.
Because you will end up with a lot of recordsheets within the database, and to ensure
performance of the application, only the most recent recordsheets are shown in the
Main Screen List (when viewing MyRecords).
We have included a search facility within Longbow so that you can search for Recordsheets
(possibly for reporting purposes) using a number of different criteria (see image
below).
Once you have searched for and returned your results, you can print them off using
the integrated printing facilities within longbow.
