FAQ

Listed below are some of the frequently asked questions. If the answer to your question is not listed below then please feel free to contact us for more details.

GNAS Handicap Tables and Classification Tables

Due to copyright restrictions, the handicap and classification tables are NOT currently included within the software.  However, the facility to use these tables IS included within the current functionality of Longbow.

Negotiations have been taking place with the GNAS in an attempt to resolve the issues surrounding this data but so far to no avail.  As a result, it was decided to make Longbow flexible so that these tables could be added at a later date.  Should the issues surrounding the distribution of these tables be resolved, they can be simply downloaded from this website and then imported directly into Longbow.

Once these tables are imported, the requirement for handicaps and classifications to be entered manually will be removed and all calculations will be automated.

If your club chooses to implement its own set of handicap/classification tables, the required format of these tables for importing into Longbow can be found here.

Scoresheets created on PDA/Mobile Device

Longbow offers you the facility to import xml scoresheets generated by PDA/Mobile devices directly into Longbow thus removing the requirement for manual entry. The only requirement is that the scoresheet is generated using this required format.

When I try to run Longbow 2008 on Vista I get an error message once the splash screen is shown?

There is a known issue with Microsofts Vista that relates to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (which comes with Longbow 2008). We have been advised by Microsoft that this relates to permissions on your machine and the permissions required to use SQL Server 2005.

To resolve this issue you should download and install Service Park 2 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 in order for you to use it on the Vista operating system.
